What the technology or architecture actually solves

Xcom-LAN and Xcom-4G provide remote communication, Xcom-CAN connects supported batteries, RCC provides local configuration and BSP improves battery-state measurement. A project should include only interfaces with a clear owner and operating purpose. An unmanaged 4G modem can add attack surface without adding service value.

The current 2026 partner material includes Xcom-CAN, Xcom-485i, Xcom-232i, Xcom-LAN, Xcom-4G, RCC-02/03 and BSP 500/1200. Interface availability is not automatic compatibility with any EMS. We request a register map, update interval, timeout behaviour and history export before integration.

Control and automation

Define the decision first, then the data point. Generator logic may need SOC, power trend and forecast; service needs the exact alarm, phase voltages and AC-In history. The system records context before and after an event so “input voltage too low” can be traced to grid, generator, cabling or settings.

Weak points we test

Remote access should be isolated from the public internet, use MFA where supported and enforce roles. One service password must not be shared across sites. Configuration changes are made against an approved baseline and followed by an exported intervention record.

Legal, regulatory and data context

Operational and personal data, cloud contracts, third-party service access and log location belong in contractual and cyber review. For NIS2 entities the technical controls map to risk, supplier, incident and recovery evidence.

Frequently asked questions

Is Xcom-4G needed when LAN exists?

Only when it provides a defined availability or isolated service path; otherwise it adds cost and another security layer.

Does BSP replace the BMS?

No. BSP measures battery state, while protection and allowable current remain with the compatible BMS and system design.
